It is with great need that I am writing to request funding for some of the poorest children in Toronto, so they can access a healthy meal at school.   Lesley Ritchie of FoodShare has recommended that I submit a request to your very important and generous organization.
I have been working as a volunteer parent for my children’s schools for over ten years now.  I am deeply troubled by the lack of food that these girls and boys have, very often I see children without a lunch or breakfast at all.  We are well aware that children who do not eat well in their younger years are very likely to develop severe health disorders and will not be able to lead a happy, healthy life.  It is quite evident in the classroom that unnourished children tend to have poor concentration and learning habits in the classroom.

These students are often the cause of classroom disruption and are difficult to control.  As we know, hunger is not merely an uncomfortable feeling.  It is painful, emotionally straining and can cause a person to do things that he or she would not do in a normal situation.
I am hoping that you have the ability to support the many children that need healthy food  would be helpful in assisting these hungry children.  I am more than happy to offer my time, on a volunteer basis of course, to assure that these children are helped as needed.  But funds are needed to incorporate such projects.  Please help us out at this critical time – don’t let our children down.
